How Azuki TCG Organized Play Works

Whether you are opening your first starter deck or chasing a seat at the Azuki Invitational, Azuki TCG organized play has a path for you. Here is how each tournament level works and where our first competitive season is headed.

Start Playing

Starter Deck Battles

Starter Deck Battles use unmodified starter decks, making them one of the easiest ways to learn the fundamentals and play your first matches.

Prerelease Tournaments

Prerelease tournaments let players experience a new set before its official release. Each player receives a starter deck and 4 booster packs from the new set.

You must use the leader and gate from the starter deck, but the rest of your deck can include cards of any element from the booster packs.

Play Regularly

Weekly Locals

Local game stores host recurring constructed events where players can test decks, meet their local community, and play every week.

3v3 Tournaments

Form a team of 3 and compete against other teams. The first team to win 2 of the 3 individual games wins the round. Teams continue playing until one undefeated team remains.

The 3v3 format is supported in the Azuki TCG app.

Store Championships

Stores will periodically host Store Championships featuring event-exclusive prizes and opportunities to earn an Invite.

Invites pass down to the next eligible finisher when a player has already earned one.

Compete in the Garden Arenas

Regionals

Garden Arena Regionals are open-registration tournaments available on a first-come, first-served basis. Players can earn exclusive participation cards, additional cards for top finishes, and cash prizes.

During the first wave of Regionals, players who finish in the Top 16 earn an Invite to the 2027 Azuki Invitational and a 2-round bye at the 2027 Nationals. If a qualifying player already has an Invite, it passes down to the next eligible finisher.

Azuki Invitational

The 2027 Azuki Invitational will take place in Southern California. Players can qualify by earning an Invite at a Regional or Store Championship. Set 1 Dragon Ascendant purchasers can also give their Invite to a player.

Players will compete for cash prizes and event-exclusive cards that will not be available outside the Invitational.

Nationals

The 2027 Azuki TCG Nationals will have open registration, meaning anyone can sign up.

Players with Invites receive byes for rounds 1 and 2. They will enter the tournament in round 3 with a 2-0 record. Future Nationals tournaments may not always have open registration.

Players will compete for cash prizes and event-exclusive cards that will not be available outside Nationals.

Worlds

There is no Azuki TCG Worlds tournament planned for 2027. We are planning the first Worlds-level tournament for 2028.

Competitive Roadmap

• August 2026: Regional, Set 1 format
• October 2026: Regional, Set 1.5 format with Rushfire Gate banned
• December 2026: Regional, Set 2 format
• January 2027: Regional, Set 2 format
• February 2027: Azuki Invitational, Set 2 format
• April 2027: Regional, Set 3 format
• May 2027: Azuki TCG Nationals, Set 3 format
• June 2027: Season 1 ends and seasonal rewards are distributed
